An epic rematch that effectively built on the first match and delivered a truly great match. This was almost certainly the best AEW title match to date, a bloody war between two heated rivals. Danielson went after Page's cut with gusto and the double juice really took this to another level. We got all the trademark violent Danielson spots like the head stomps and the pulling each other into the ring-post, and by the end when they were trading sick headbutts this felt like a gritty, nasty battle of wills. Both guys' faces, chests and hands were covered in claret. The arm-work from Danielson was also excellent as always and I thought Page did a good enough job selling the damage. Danielson not being able to skin the cat due to the blood loss, after being able to do so deep into the first match, was a masterful touch at putting over the damage he had taken. After the first match went to the draw, there was a question mark how they would play this one out, and to have Page put Bryan down so decisively was refreshing and unexpected. I can't imagine any wrestler doing a better job than Danielson at legitimising Page's title reign and this is up there with the best matches the promotion has ran.

#2. The Briscoes vs Alex Zayne/Blake Christian, GCW Die 4 This 1/1

Almost certainly won't be in the Top 20 by the end of the year but I enjoyed this in spite of the crappy crowd. Vintage Briscoes where your first half is old school southern tag, cut the ring in half, before a big end run with lots of fireworks. Zayne and Christian are good high flyers whose flippy twisty spots all connect with force and they use their matrix-level athleticism well to dodge and counter the more full steam ahead approach of Dem Boys. Briscoes lay in a beating on the underdog challengers and being GCW we get some hardcore plunder thrown in like Mark hitting a blockbuster on Zayne through a door and Christian getting creamed with a chair to the face. The home team guys were fired up and got some good nearfalls down the stretch before Briscoes put Christian away with an avalanche splash mountain / neckbreacker combo, which was pretty cool and felt like a big match finish. 15 minutes was the optimal time for this, all go-go-go without ever feeling like Too Much.

#3. WALTER vs Nathan Frazer, WWE NXT UK 13/1

A fitting farewell from WALTER, as he gets to brutalise one of the UK's top prospects. This is my first time seeing Frazer, though I was aware of him in AEW when he was getting some hype, and he held up his end of the bargain for the most part. Some of his stuff in the early going look soft but he got better as the match went along - his athletic moveset came off well against a bigger opponent and his superkicks were all pretty tight. Of course this was the WALTER show, blasting this kid with absurdly stiff chops and boots to the face while also putting him over with some great "chopping down the tree" leg selling that believably gave Frazer a way into the match. Being advertised as WALTER's farewell in advance I did bite on one or two of Frazer's nearfalls, but even in defeat he came out elevated for being able to take a guy who's dominated the brand for years to his limit.
